The Spring 1968 (Mau Dan), Nguyen Lord appointed Nguyen Huu Canh Mandarin to come in the South to establish Saigon administration, "establishing Saigon as Tan Binh district" with meaning of setting a new, peaceful, stable and developed land.

With advantages in geography, as a hub of transport, an important strategic location, Saigon soon became the administrative, economic, cultural and social center of the South and the whole country. From 1698 to 1976, the land of Saigon has undergone many name changes, until July 2nd, 1976, the National Assembly of Vietnam unanimously decided to rename the city Saigon - Gia Dinh to Ho Chi Minh City. More than 320 years of the establishment and development, officially within 45 years of honor to bear the name of President Ho Chi Minh, the City has always been constantly developing, becoming a special city, a livable, civilized, modern, sentimental city, all for the sake of enrich inhabitants, strengthen country, democracy, justice and civilization.
